Cesarean-Section Scar Endometrioma: A Case Report and Review of the Literature by Madison Kocher et al. |
Published: 2017 Dec Issue: 11(12) :: Pages: 16-26
| Abstract: Endometriomas can occur after any surgery where there is endometrial manipulation, and there are a number of reports of endometriomas developing in the abdominal wall at the site of the Pfannenstiel incision following Cesarean-section. Although this is ultimately a histopathologically-confirmed diagnosis, preoperative imaging including ultrasound, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging may be helpful in the diagnosis and assessment. We report a pathology-confirmed case of Cesarean-section endometrioma with a classic, clinical presentation and imaging findings on computed tomography. A comprehensive literature review and discussion of the multi-modality imaging appearance of Cesarean-section endometrioma is also provided.

Primary extradural paraganglioma of the thoracic spine: A case report by Alexander Reddy et al. |
Published: 2017 Dec Issue: 11(12) :: Pages: 1-7
| Abstract: Paragangliomas are rare, mostly benign neuroendocrine tumors arising from autonomic paraganglia. Spinal paragangliomas are uncommon, and among these, paragangliomas of the thoracic spine are distinctly unusual. We present the case of a primary paraganglioma of the extradural thoracic spine in a 34-year-old woman.

Duplex collecting system in a pelvic kidney - an unusual combination by Francesca Giorlando et al. |
Published: 2017 Dec Issue: 11(12) :: Pages: 8-15
| Abstract: Pelvic kidney is a relatively common renal malformation as well as duplex kidney; however, the unilateral coexistence of these abnormalities is not frequently found. We present a case of a young woman with a history of hypertension in whom a pelvic and dysmorphic left kidney was discovered during ultrasound examination performed for the study of the renal arteries. Magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography imaging revealed a duplex pelvic kidney. This combination is very rare; we have not found a similar case reported in the literature.
